Flames Level Boat Club Inn Destroyed In Menasha Fire
A fire Friday night destroyed The Log Inn on Highway 41 Town of Menasha hours before it was to move to Lake Butte des Morts for Oshkosh Power Boat Club. Sheriff reports note a two-tone Pontiac seen near the tavern before the blaze at 8 35 p m. Neenah police officer William Richey recalled the vehicle and witnesses overheard remarks about a car at the scene. Ne Nah and Menasha volunteers fought the flames as Karra's Restaurant provided coffee and donuts to firefighters.

Power Boat Club officials said the loss was adequately insured and replacement costs would run between 45000 and 50000 dollars. Seven Die in Rural Wisconsin Crash at Intersection
A three-vehicle crash at the Highways 22 and 33 intersection killed seven people, including five members of the Meier family from Hopkins Minnesota. Two others were critically injured and two more less seriously. The wreck near Portage was the worst Wisconsin highway crash since 1955 and the county's deadliest. A Tokyo court heard that Japanese physician Dr Jo Ono testified former Shorewood resident Joseph P Crowley urged him to certify a homicide as a hose attack and opposed an autopsy. Crowley faces manslaughter charges over the May 4 death of T A D Jones Jr after a drunken spree. Jones and Crowley, Hartford Conn natives, traveled to Japan with business partner Kissinger, who has been cleared and returned to the United States. The doctor also testified that he received about 1000 in yen from Kissinger the day after Jones died and returned the money the same day.

Four young women from North Apollo and Washington D C died in a wreck on Route 126 near the Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange. Their car collided with a tractor-trailer and three other autos. Susanna Marquandt husband Philip Marquandt 28 was hospitalized in critical condition at Bedford County Memorial Hospital. Ronald Marshall 39 of Columbus Ohio driver of the tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries.
