United Press reports Mastington D. G. president Capliage was engaged today in formulating a plan with advisers to avert a strike. President Coolidge is urged to act, as deadlock persists between operators and miners.
Albert Rivers, 74, of Redgranite, died after a buggy was struck by an automobile near his home on Sunday afternoon. Rivers suffered severe head cuts and brain concussion. His wife Mrs Rivers had three broken ribs, and a young boy nearby was injured. Dr Charles Devoe of Berlin attended but Rivers died within about half an hour.
Madison Wisconsin beekeepers and guests from nearby states gathered for a conference and sale meet opening today and running through the week. Delegates arrived from surrounding areas and settled at a tented city beside Lake Mendota near the university agricultural buildings, with more than 500 persons to be cared for during the event.
