James H. Davidson of Oshkosh won the Republican nomination for Congress in the Wisconsin Eighth district after a county-by-county vote at the convention. At Saratoga on August 12 1919 horses owned by Clarence H Mackay were sold in the paddock. Ten horses brought a total of 61400 dollars with the two year old Mexican topping the auction after a starting bid of 10 dollars. Bidders included Ian Waterbury F J Healy and W L Pow era with R T Wilson Jr taking the top price for the Mexican. The Newton Bennington horses also sold well.
