Menasha Board Names Committees at Meeting

The Menasha Board of Education elected Mrs. Milton Gaertner president and named committees. John Pawlowski heads the curriculum panel with Roger Fliege and Robert Farrell, while Robert Brian chairs the finance committee with Raymond Pocquete and Frank Rosch. Paxlowski and Bryan join personnel with Rosch as chair, and Fliege with Pocquette Liege head the properties committee.

Pedestrian Safety Honors From AAA Recognition Luncheon

Neenah Menasha and Oshkosh to be honored by the American Automobile Association for pedestrian safety programs. The luncheon will be Aug 18 at the Conway Meter Hotel with Warne Ramen presenting the awards. Local representatives include Mayor Carl Loehning and Chief Lawrence Marouf from Neenah and Maser Juhn and Che Lester from Menasha.

Child Turns In False Fire Alarm

A boy at 831 Racine St. triggered a false alarm at 7:45 pm drawing one fire truck and police to the scene. Capt. Roy Verhoven reprimanded the boy. One fire truck awaits engine installation in the city garage, with Neenah units on standby in case of further need.

Heffernan Named To Wisconsin Supreme Court By Governor

Nathan Heffernan a 44 year old U S attorney for Wisconsin western district since 1962 was appointed to the Wisconsin Supreme Court today by Gov John W Reynolds Heffernan succeeds the late Justice William Dieterich and is a close personal and political friend of Reynolds Heffernan previously served as assistant attorney general under Reynolds and as Sheboygan County assistant district attorney and city attorney Heffernan is a UW graduate 1942 naval veteran Harvard business school and UW law graduate.

Three Traffic Deaths Boost Toll to 632

The Wisconsin highway death toll rose to 632 this year, up from 305 a year earlier. Minnesota reservists Pfe Russell Gunsalus, 21, of Lake George died when a car carrying him and two others left Highway 21 near Sparta and crashed. 1st Lt. Donald Muentbach and 2nd Lt. Patrick A. Coborn were hospitalized in Sparta in critical condition. who was driving could not be determined. A separate crash killed Jeph G Guernicere, 49, of Minnesota when his car left highways 37 and 22 in Manitou County. George Hartman, 72, of Juneau died when his car and a truck collided near Highway 2 and Arrow Road south of Juneau.

Car Fire Reported in Neenah on Main Street

Neenah Fire Department was dispatched at 1 18 pm to douse two small blazes in a car owned by David Sommers. The vehicle was parked at 638 Main Street near 1603 S Commercial Street. Minor damage reported with unclear cause.

Two Receive Awards For Postal Work At Menasha

MENASHY Postmas James Omochs and Qmachinskss Aindus clerk Schipterling received incentive awards for postal efficiency. Schipterling earned 35 for a money order distribution idea saving about 923 annually and freeing an hour of clerical labor daily. Certificates of recognition from the Minneapolis postal division accompanied the awards.

Menasha awards pool rewiring contract to Becher Electric

Becher Electric Company, Inc., Menasha, was awarded a $3 142 contract to rewire and install 20 ceiling light fixtures for the Menasha High School pool and replace the lighting system.
