Leone Langdon once a Chicago resident is said to have married President Stengsland of the wrecked Milwaukee Avenue State Bank of Chicago.

Jacob Von Arx, a 24 year old Swedish immigrant, testified in Hoboken that he and four others were hired to work in a Florida turpentine camp. He said wages were $2.49 for four weeks, food poor, quarters unfit, and that he was beaten and forced to return after escape attempts. He plans to seek Swedish consul aid as reports of abuse surface.
Cooling showers across Philadelphia break the five day heat wave, offering relief though the death toll climbs to twenty two from the hot spell. Prostrations reach eighty three as nightly storms pass.

Frederick Maryland, August 9. At the command of his father Fred Debold seventeen, shot and killed George Smith, son of their neighbor Edward O Smith, here last evening. Longstanding family feuding reported.
A Journal story from Milwaukee dated August 9 reports Miss Ane Dera of Valders injured when a horse driven by her rear vehicle spooked by an automobile, trampling a wire fence and demolishing the carriage. The woman, about 35, suffered severe bruises and internal injuries and is believed to be sister to Valders Postmaster Berge.
