Police name two Buckley killers tied to Cellura gang

Detroit police commissioner Thomas C Wilcox named two men Ted Pizzino and Mike Morgany as suspects in the Buckley killing and said they are gang members led by Leo Cellura. He withheld two other names until more evidence is gathered. Norman Smith, jailed for rum running, aided the interview at Fort Riley.

Washington reports the new veterans administration has begun operations as the largest government consolidation of its kind this generation. Believed Victim Identified From Lake Pepin Beach Death

Senator Heflin In Car Crash Near Decatur Alabama

United States Senator J Thomas Heflin of Alabama and three aides were injured when their automobile hit a telephone pole to avoid a log truck near Benetor. Heflin went to a hotel for treatment. his son J Thomas Heflin Jr and staff member Walter Brown also sustained cuts and bruises. Driver Perry Schussler was lightly hurt. None believed seriously injured.

Slaying of Jack Zita Yields No New Clues

Waukesha Wisconsin authorities failed to gain new leads in the Jack Zita murder case despite a day of investigation. Suspects were shown to Lakeview hotel workers in Delafield but the witnesses could not identify anyone. Sheriff Phil Herbrand said others questioned offered no new identifications.

City May Convey Real Estate Held by Vocational Board

Madison UP An attorney general opinion says real estate acquired by a local vocational education board in the city name may be conveyed only by the city. The opinion, sought by George P. Hambrecht, states title to the lots is in the city and conveyance should be by the mayor and clerk under common council authority.

A fifty two foot whale washed ashore near the North Beach coast guard station in Ocean City Md. Officials faced disposal tasks once again after dynamite proved disastrous by scattering remains onto rooftops. Crews cut the carcass into pieces for towing by motorboats and sinking at sea.

New Ocean Cable To Have Capacity Twenty Times More

Milwaukee editor Stanley R. Edwards told the Wisconsin State Telephone association that a new ocean cable will carry about twenty times the capacity of existing lines. He noted the 1844 cable carried one message each way at a time, 110 letters per minute, while the permalloy cable from Newfoundland in 1926 carried 2 500 words a minute. The proposed telephone cable would handle one conversation at a time but allow vast telegraphic throughput.

Steps Urged To Relieve Unemployment

Wisconsin citizens committee leaders released recommendations from three subcommittees after meeting with Gov. Walter J. Kohler. Missionaries Held by Chinese Bandits For Ransom

The London Missionary Society authorized payment of a ransom for the release of Miss Edith Harrison Miss Eleanor J Harrison and Miss Edith Nettleton held in Fukien province. Endurance Flight Near Record At St Louis Field
