Lake Lucerne bus crash kills sixteen Americans
Divers recovered a tourist bus from Lake Lucerne after it slid from a rain slick road and crashed into a truck. Sixteen Americans died, with fifteen bodies located by depth gear. Of the 22 survivors, most escaped through windows as the bus sank rapidly, leaving 19 passengers and three crew fighting to escape.

Would-Be Hijacker In Guilty Plea
Bruce Britt 40 pleaded guilty to three counts of attempted murder after trying to hijack a passenger plane. He will be sentenced August 11 by Superior Court Judge J. Frank Good. Britt boarded a San Francisco bound flight at Chico airport without a ticket and attempted to force the captain to fly to Smuackover Ark. In the scuffle he shot pilot Oscar Cleal rupturing the optic nerve and wounded ticket agent Bill Hicks. shots also fired at copilot Alan Wheeler and attorney J. Albert Hutchinson.

The Associated Press reports two Wisconsin highway deaths raising the 1961 toll to 486. Gerald E. Kiviko, 20, of Spencer died when his car left Highway 13 north of Spencer and struck a utility pole. Rollo H. Beebe, 72, of Central City Iowa, perished Wednesday night when the car he rode in overturned on Chippewa County Trunk S near Jim Falls.

Ambulance Bid Okayed In Oshkosh By City Council
