Black River Falls Wisconsin May 28 fires sweep eastern Jackson county burning thousands of acres of blueberry fields and damaging young timber. The area burned already tops over seventy five acres as fires continue to burn.
The North German Lloyd steamer Trave sailed from Naples with a large party of Catholic priests bound for Rome. The group included sixty five clergy, fifty from Treoklyo and the rest from St. Louis.
In Pittsburg, the jury in the divorce case of James King Clarke versus Eather Bartlett Clarke was discharged after failing to reach a verdict following twenty four hours of deliberation. The Central Park hippopotamus Miss Murphy gave birth to its fourth young hippo. The newborn is about fourteen inches long, eight inches high, and weighs around twenty pounds.
Jacob L. Harrin, once of Milwaukee, filed for insolvency in Chicago on April 2. Liabilities total 124,547 with debts contracted around 1886. Major creditor H. 2. Claflin & Co. claims 15,483.
William Henry Heafford father of George H. Heafford of the Chicago Milwaukee & St Paul railway died at his home in Chicago today after a long illness. He was a Civil War veteran and former city collector, aged seventy seven.

Information from Neenah reports Gottfried Kirchberg aged seventy six was found dead in a slough on Hayes farm by two boys this morning. He resided with his wife on the W Williams farm run by his son William Kirchberg. A quarrel with family members preceded his disappearance as he planned to visit another son Albert nearby. A coroner's jury will meet Monday at 7 30 PM.
Chicago platform Democrats announce a separate convention to select delegates for the national convention. They accuse the regular Democratic organization in New York of lacking loyalty to Bryan and the Chicago platform. The state committee criticizes unsigned delegate pledges and warns that unpledged delegates may betray Bryan.

Richard Yoergers appeared in municipal court charged with assault with intent to murder Abraham Bodoh using a thirty two caliber revolver. He pleaded not guilty and requested time to consult his lawyer for a preliminary examination set for May. Bodoh stated he did not relish being a target for a gun. Bond was fixed at 150 dollars.
