Walter J. Kohler, noted industrialist, philanthropist, and political leader, dies at his Kohler Wisconsin residence. Son of an Austrian immigrant who built an enamelware and farm equipment plant, he rose from a $1.95-a-day laborer to prominence in industry and public life.
Former President Herbert Hoover will not attend funeral services for Walter J. Kohler in Kohler Wisconsin. Kohler a 65 year old plumbing magnate and former Wisconsin governor died from coronary embolism at Riverbend. Kohler chaired the Finnish relief fund and led Kohler Company as the village and factory expanded after a fire. He served as governor in 1928 and faced corruption accusations later acquitted. Survivors include wife four sons a brother and three sisters.
