Rescue on Lake Superior Delays Three Men
Three Bayfield Wisconsin men aboard the 65 foot motor vessel Chippewa were rescued by Coast Guard cutter Woodrush Friday night after drifting 24 hours in Lake Superior. The vessel, en route from Duluth Superior to Bayfield, suffered mechanical trouble about 50 miles from the twin ports. On board were owner Robert Weber, his brother Bud, and skipper Laune Nourse. They drifted in ice near Cornucopia Wisconsin until rescue occurred about 21 miles off shore.

Grimau Executed By Spain After Clemency Plea
Spanish Communist leader Julian Grimau Garcia was executed by firing squad at Carabanchel prison in Madrid after a clemency appeal from Soviet Premier Khrushchev.
