Howling winds and heavy snow blanketed Oshkosh and surrounding areas causing road closures, a truck train crash, and injuries. A northbound semi collided with a Milwaukee Road train near Highway 41 injuring the driver, with 20 plus vehicles veering into ditches. Schools closed in Omro Winneconne and Neenah Menasha while Oshkosh and county offices operated on limited schedules.

146 aboard in airliner crash near Basel

Increase in minimum wage discussed before House subcommittee
Labor Secretary Peter Brennan urged a federal minimum wage rise from 1.60 to 2.30 an hour over three years. The proposal targeted pre 1966 workers reaching 2.30 by 1976 and post 1966 workers to 2.30 by 1977, with farm workers raised to 2 by 1976. The plan, debated by Rep.
