The Orono Players start the annual Drama Festival this Friday at 8 15 p m with The Purple Door Knob a one act comedy by Walter Pritchard Eaton The show stars Gladys Aslett Margaret Powell and Maureen Johnson with Leslie Aslett directing and Ruth Taggart as prompter The evening also features A Battle of Wits and Rise and Shine followed by adjudicator remarks and awards including a carved statuette for Best Play and plaques for acting directing diction and set design awarded by local groups

Fall is Fatal to Local Boy in Hay Loft Death

Thirty eight students from Orono Public School grades seven and eight toured Peterborough on a day trip. They were guided by teacher Mrs F E Lycett and visited Outboard Marine West Clock and Quaker Oats displays. Orono Trustees Hear Water Bid For Medical Centre
At the regular meeting the Orono Trustees discussed supplying water to the new Medical Centre with Little Charitable Foundation seeking service. A price for extending a 6 inch main and a connection fee around 100 was to be determined before contacting the Foundation. The board also considered turning over an unopened road allowance east of the centre and cleaning a weed-filled triangular property. A petition asked that Cobbledick Street at Church Street be made a stop street to slow traffic, with by law preparation approved.
