Wide Range In Tenders Wins School Painting Contract
Uptown Painting Oshawa was the successful bidder to paint exterior woodwork for Crono and Brown's school. Clarke Public School Board awarded the contract at a Newtonville meeting. Six tenders were received with Uptown submitting 625 for Orono and 175 for Brown's. Other bids included Harwood Painting Ajax and Modern Painting Oshawa depending on location and scope.

Clarke Township Considers Two Year Term for Officials

Orono Public School Opens with 252 Students
The Orono Public School opened a week ago Tuesday with 252 students, matching last year’s enrollment. Educational Television will be used across all grades this year on a trial basis, with full service now in place since installation late last year. Continuous progress will be pursued in the first three grades while grades six to eight operate on a rotary schedule each afternoon. Mr. Moffat reports increased teacher workload under the new program. Mr. Tighe of Peterborough serves as the principal's relief for the year.

Big increases at Orono Fair show thriving exhibits
At the Durham Central Agricultural Fair in Orono exhibitors rose 90 to 290, boosting indoor and outdoor displays across flowers, livestock including sheep, beef and dairy cattle, horses, poultry and rabbits. Attendance fell, gate receipts down about 500 dollars.
