Orono Park sports grounds renovation nearly complete
The large bulldozer upgraded Orono Park to fit all sports with football at the south end and two softball diamonds plus hardball on the field. A lighter machine will finish levelling after the ground dries. a ditch was dug to drain the southeast corner near the pond. The park board has spent about $1,000 and expects total costs around $1,500 to finish in Ontario.

Sadie Helen Leverington Dies in Ontario at 55
Sadie Helen Graham Leverington died suddenly in Starkville on Tuesday October 7 1947. Beloved wife of Harold Edward Leverington she was in her 56th year. Resting at Morris Funeral Chapel Bowmanville with a service in the chapel on Thursday October 9 at 2 00 p.m. Interment Orono Cemetery.

Orone Fire Brigade extinguished a grass fire in the lot south of John Armstrong’s residence on Monday about 1 pm. A box of matches was found and two boys were involved, one known to have started previous fires. quick action prevented damage to the Durham Central Agricultural Society property.
