Caledonia defeated Orono 8 to 5 in Port Dover to advance to the final series. Orono led 3 but six Caledonia runs in the sixth inning via two doubles and three Orono errors broke the game open. Two Die After Car Truck Crash On Highway 401 Near Bowmanville
Two Toronto men Edward J. Garrett and Harold K. Lerson died from injuries after a head on collision with a Smith Transport tractor trailer on Highway 401 near Bowmanville in Bowmanville Hospital. A third man survived with minor injuries. the truck driver John J. Dobson escaped unhurt. Ontario Provincial Police say the car likely crossed into the eastbound lane after losing control. This crash marks seven traffic fatalities in the area for the year, up from seven. two in the same period last year.
