Clarke Township Nominates Reeve and School Board

Orono Forms Juvenile Class C Hockey Team

Orono has entered a team in Hockey League Juvenile Class C and calls for strong community support. Equipment purchases, rink capacity, and expense are noted, with a dance raising 102.35 dollars toward gear and praise for organizers Chas. Tyrrell and Perc Lynn.

Orono Police Trustees Return by Acclamation

Orono village held nominations Friday November 28 with about nine present including trustees clerk reporter and others. Charles Thomas Miller led as nominator with C F Awde Richard E K Logan and William J Riddell as nominees. no election will be held this year. The meeting approved sidewalk and culvert projects funded partly by the Ontario government and discussed memorial placements for war dead. Hydro report showed strong finances and a profitable year, with upgrades to lighting and a commitment to reorganize the fire department.

Soldier off to home on Empress of Scotland diverted

George Mitchell of the Canadian Armed Forces was to sail home on the Empress of Scotland but was withdrawn at the last moment and is now expected to arrive home aboard the Queen Elizabeth. A Park Street Church choir social evening drew good attendance and generous discussion of present and future problems with prizes for all participants.

Orono Fish and Hunt Club Banquet Enjoyed by Members

The Orono Fish and Hunt Club held a banquet in the town hall on Tuesday with venison supplied by Dr A F McKenzie and other dishes from St Saviour's Anglican Church. Dr Alan Secord lectured with hunting films and stories followed by song from Mr Orme Gamsby.
