The Orono Public School celebrated a successful graduation night at Orono Town Hall with awards diplomas and performances by the glee club folk dancers and rhythm band. Three Die Trapped In Car At Cavan Corners
Three people died in a burning wreck after a collision at Cavan Corners on Highway TA near 6 P.M. Sifiday. Victims are Helgar Swanson 30 Rexdale Beatrice Boucher 50 and her daughter Wilma Boucher Bolton. Others suffered minor injuries. An inquest is expected.

Midland Regiment Holds First Reunion in Baltimore Hotel
A company of the Midland Regiment held its first reunion at the Baltimore Hotel on October 28 with about 100 members who enlisted in Cobourg in 1940. Lt. Col. J. C. Gamey and Major K. Hall led head table guests. the ex soldiers planned an annual reunion and Sgt. Robison and Sgt. Cedric Smith organized banquet arrangements.

Orono Credit Union Discusses Stabilization Fund
The Orono and District Credit Union directorate met on October 26 in the Co op Building board room. Guest Jim Simpson of the Ontario Credit Union League explained the Stabilization Fund and its purpose to protect members savings and ensure loan repayment. He urged investing surplus funds locally in the Credit Union League Central.
