Padre Wright Delivers Memorial Sermon In Orono Service

Memorial Day observance at Orono Town Hall honors World War I and II veterans. Padre Wright urged reverence and silent remembrance, highlighting two minutes of silence, cenotaph significance, and heroism. Local Legion Bowmanville, Guides, and citizens joined, with Band and wreath laid for departed comrades.

Orone Homecraft Guild Holds November Meeting

The Orone Homecraft Guild met November 6 with strong attendance. Nutrition leader Mrs. L McGinnis and assistant Mrs. W Reid presented on vegetables salads dressing methods. Mrs. C W Rolph spoke on home management under We’re Expecting Company. Sewers began on their project led by Mrs Boultbee.

Church Leaders Urge Friendly Openness to Returning Servicemen

Miss Wilna Thomas of the Dominion Board WMS urged King Street United Church women to welcome returned service men and women and to form girls and children committees in every congregation. Visitors Day At Orono Public School

On Wednesday November 6 parents and friends visited Orono Public School in the afternoon. They toured rooms, viewed notebooks, art and writing, and observed class activities. Mrs W E Armstrong awarded best kept notebooks to Patsy Moffat and June Neilson, while Mr Orme Gamsby presented the Clarke Township Field Day honors to Betty Cooper and Charles Armstrong for highest standings in Intermediate events in Newcastle in June.
