Junior Gardeners Compete In Spring Flower Show
The Junior Gardeners met May 24 at the town Municipal Building with 25 members and 7 visitors. Mrs. Fairbrother led the session guiding scrap book prep and posters for a June 2 Hort iculture special, with three posters to be displayed for judging. Mrs. C Rolph acted as judge, awarding prizes for dining table arrangements, dish garden and cup and saucer displays, and announcing a summer flower show in August. Winners listed include Elaine Schmid, Wendy Cox, Annette Jorgenson, Dale Challice, Bill Caldwell, and Carel Ann Caldwell.

Hugh E L Dyke Named Principal at Orono School
Hugh E L Dyke of Athens Ontario has been hired by the 8.8 No. 12 Public School Board as principal of the Orono School. He will assume duties in September after eleven years teaching and five years as principal, plus three years in the armed forces. Dyke is married with two children, a son eight and a daughter six.

39 Boys Turn To Baseball
Thirty five boys twelve years and under gathered at Orono Public School grounds for the opening of baseball for this age group. Teams will practice and play weekly with an all star to join the Minor Lakeshore Tyke group against Bowmanville and Newcastle. Moss Expects To Race Again After Crash
Stirling Moss, recovering from injuries from a Goodwood crash, plans to resume racing in late summer. Doctors say he cannot attend the Player's 200 at Mosport June 9. He will be transferred to St Thomas Hospital for final treatment and then take a six week holiday in Nassau.

On May 26 the Junior Gardeners Club of Orono organized a spring clean-up in the village business district. They swept sidewalks and streets with brooms and dust pans while visitors photographed the event. The club thanks Mr. Rolph for truck use and local business donors for support.
