Ann Lowery Dies After Illness at 83 in Kirby
After a lengthy illness Ann Lowery widow of William John Patterson died Tuesday morning at her daughter’s home in Kirby aged 83. Born in Stark County she was the youngest daughter of John R. Lowery. She married William John Patterson in 1896 and lived in Kendal before spending her last years with her daughter in Kirby. A member of Kendal United Church she leaves a son Ross of Port Credit a daughter Doris Mrs William Wannan of Kirby two grandsons and one great grandson.

James Allan maps new Route 401 from Newcastle to Trenton
Highways Minister James Allan announced a revised four lane route for Highway 401 running east from Newcastle two thirds of a mile south of Highway 2 toward Port Hope and Trenton. The plan follows the Lake Iroquois shoreline avoiding railway and highway crossings and uses less expropriated land. Survey work covers the stretch to Port Hope and Trenton with work currently underway between Trenton and Belleville.
