Clarke Township council accepted EB Marston Construction for the Robinson and Lenskard bridges,Beaverdale Construction won equipment rental tenders,and Keens Construction Company won crushed stone. Council declined to take over a Highway 145 service road until Ontario Municipal Board orders are met.

Mission Band Meeting Recalls Worship and Readings
At the Messengers and Explorers gathering 18 members attended. Valerie Mercer led Call to Worship and taught the new Explorers’ purpose as Dale Challice and Blaine Forrester read scripture. The group sang hymns, a pane duet by Dale and Coretta Challice entertained, and Mrs McLaren closed with a story.

Senior Citizens To Visit Port Hope Cub

The 1961 total taxable assessment for United Counties rose to 79,118,991 dollars, up 2,850,238 from 1960. Murray Township led gains with 965,004. Cobourg topped town increases at 577,887, Colborne led villages at 51,350, and Clarke Township recorded a notable rise as part of the broader assessment jump amid population growth to 80,280 and 252 appeals touching the process.

Mil ton Tamblyn received a scroll from the Orono Chamber of Commerce at a regular meeting for many years of band master leadership. H Duvall praised the band’s contribution to the village and noted its long history from 1903 through 1938 and its self supporting operation with 25 to 35 members. The gathering also discussed civic projects including student loans, the Orono Park loan, public washrooms, and mail delivery delays.

Two Orono teams entered in Lakeshore Minor Baseball Association late Friday, Bantams and Midgets, to compete with similarly sized centres. Pee Wee has only two Orono players so no team. Tikes division has no schedule as only Orono and Newcastle showed interest. Orono has 41 boys signed for 11 years and under. coaches still needed.
