A large crowd packed Orono Township Hall for the Durham County Progressive Conservative nomination meeting. Alex Carruthers of Garden Hill was chosen on the third ballot to contest the provincial election, with Lloyd Hooton and Garnet Rickard among the other candidates. Major John Foote V.C. A parade from the Hall to the United Church featured the Orene Band and a choir performance.
