Banquet and Pictures Close Successful Hunt

The Orono Fish and Hunt Club held a rabbit hunt day in warm, seasoned weather with about 12 380 cars entering the village. Around 100 hunters gathered at the town hall by 1 30 pm and 70 rabbits were reportedly taken by afternoon, followed by a banquet prepared by St Saviour's Church. Prizes went to Madison Hall for heaviest rabbit and Archie Cook for most rabbits shot. the event featured music, community singing, and film showings by William Liang on muskellunge, pheasant, and bass.

Pot Luck Supper Draws Widely Praised For Effort

Members of the Good Will Bible Class hosted a Monday evening pot luck with yellow and green decor by Mrs. Evelyn Hall. The event was planned and served by a committee including Mrs. Mary Miller and Mrs. Mabel Williams, with thanks to Rev. Littlewood and theStaples for a children's sing song and to Mrs. Thelma Smith and Mrs. Marie Smith for moving pictures and tea. Financial returns were gratifying and spur future efforts.

Wo man's Missionary Society Holds March Meeting

The Wo man's Missionary Society met on Tuesday March 6 with president Mrs M H Staples in chair. Readings prayers and hymns opened the session as delegates were appointed for the Presbyterial meeting in Oshawa. A Burma talk highlighted by Mr Case and Dr Segrave's work and mission history closed the gathering.

Orone Girl Guides Hold Evening Meeting at Guide Hall

The regular meeting led by Captain Mrs W Ek Armstrong began at seven. Activities included sewing morse code and a sing song with a closing prayer and taps. Reminder: new meeting time eight o'clock.

Red Cross Meeting Keeps Work Going Despite Weather

Local Red Cross branch rallies despite bad roads with many ladies quilting and sewing. Mrs. W. E. Armstrong leads a business session with reports from committees while Mrs. Hesper Dean and the workroom team advance quilts and ship a carton to Toronto. A birthday party honors Mrs. Maria Smith and members plan to delegates for the Provincial convention in Toronto on April 16.

Blood donors visit Oshawa clinic listed with trips

Cpl G L Carscadden Returns From Overseas

Cpl G L Carscadden, son of Mrs M Carscadden, has returned home from overseas after more than four years abroad. He sailed from Canada to England in August 1940 and served in Gibraltar before returning to England and finally home. He halted in Toronto to visit his mother en route to his wife and family in Kindersley Saskatchewan.
