Orono Fish and Hunt Club Holds Annual Meeting
The Orono Fish and Hunt Club held its annual meeting in the town hall basement with about 27 members present. Reports showed $186.17 in receipts and $142.36 in expenses, leaving $43.81 on hand. Prizes went to Orme Gamsby for largest speckled trout and R. A. Forrester for largest brown trout. The meeting discussed trout conservation, proposed hiring a game warden, and a $200,000 trout order was urged. Members re-elected officers. Newcastle directors added Ross Dickinson and Norah Goheen.

Millbrook Fair Board approves a June fair for Wednesday June 18 with the stock show drawing praise for its early summer timing. Former Clarke Teacher Appointed To Library Board
Lawrence Savery, long time Clarke area educator in Oshawa, is named to the Public Library Board by the Oshawa Board of Education. Savery has served as visual education lead in Oshawa schools, taught since 1940s, acting principal at North Simcoe Street and previously headed Newtonville School before moving to Oshawa.

Constable Robert Duncan of the Bow Manitville Ontario Provincial Police died at Cobourg General Hospital from injuries after a train accident on Monday night. He was 32, survived by his widow and a five year old daughter.
