Orono Board Rejects Kindergarten Plan For 1965 Term
At a special Orono Public School meeting, the board voted 3 to 1 against opening a kindergarten this year. Instead, they favor adding a seventh classroom by reconfiguring Library and Science rooms, moving the library to the basement lunch room, and using up stairs space. The plan aims to serve about 210 pupils next term, with costs noted for furnishings and teacher salaries. The idea of sharing a half day kindergarten with Menecacle Public School was explored, but deemed impractical, while a private kindergarten option was suggested by the inspector.

Village roads budget grows to seven thousand for 1964
Orono Police Trustees approve a 7000 dollar budget for village roads in 1964, up 2000 from last year. Major projects include Church street improvements, Duchess and Princess streets, catch basins, culverts, gravel lift on Division street south, signs at Division street ends, and planned parking changes. Plant Starts Operation In Orono
Mr. C. R. Knox has sold his Mill Street property to Richard Collins. The building a former bee house and mink food storage is now used to prepare and store mink feed. Feed is bagged in fifty pound bags and kept in the freezer. Future plans include a second large freezer with a 100 ton capacity.

Bantam Hockey Tournament Slated At Orono Rink
A four team bantam hockey tournament is set for Friday at the Orono rink featuring Orono Millbrook Newcastle and Keene. The opening game at six pits Orono against Millbrook with Newcastle and Keene to follow then intermission broomball. Winners meet winners and losers meet losers in the final rounds.

A sell-out crowd of five hundred attended the sixteenth annual Orono Figure Skating Club carnival at the Orono rink last Saturday. Local skaters from Port Perry and Peterborough clubs starred, with groups and solos earning applause and the show hailed as a huge success.
