Tent City Mush rooms For Races At Mosport

A transient crowd camped at Mosport Park for the Player's 200 racing event and dispersed by Saturday night. Fans described as hardy international enthusiasts arrived in varied attire, filling tents and singing through the night as they awaited racing day.

Orono Colt Derby to Feature Record Field and Fourteen Heats

Orono Chamber of Commerce hosts the Colt Derby this Saturday with 51 horses entered. Fourteen races will be run including fourteen colt heats plus elimination and winners divisions, starting at 1 00 p m at the Orono Race Track.

Orono Chamber of Commerce met at Brentwood Restaurant with fifteen members. William Bunting outlined the local Tree Nursery operations growing eight million trees annually and showing slides. Discussions covered mail delivery, a possible Village stop, washrooms, cost sharing for County road sign erection, stop signs, Colt Derby plans, antique car stay, student assistance funds with Newcastle Lions Club, and a note praising the Orono Horticultural Society.

Heather Rebekah Lodge No 334 met at L C C Hall on Tuesday with Emma Lunn as Noble Grand and Alice Hooey as Vice Grand. He proposed parental choice, staged classes after school with church materials, and eventually full church supervision to better preserve religious heritage.
