At a special meeting the Orono Police Trustees backed sending a by law to create a municipal water system for Orono. Engineers from Marshall Macklin Monaghan Ltd project a south village well capable of 9000 gallons per hour, with a 30 082.80 cost and 5 percent financing over thirty years by the Ontario Water Resources Commission.

Port Hope led urban turnout at 84.9 percent, Clarke Township 63.3 percent, Hope Township 42 percent, and Dardington 47.5 percent. Three clinics Orono Newtonville Newcastle tested 3,346 of 4,900. Orono 1,318 Newcastle 1,294 Newtonville 734.
