Truck Hits Bridge Gap Dives Into Chemong Lake
Near Peterborough a heavy tractor and semi trailer fell from a floating bridge into Chemong Lake while taking a detour. Owner John Thompson and companion Elmer Elliott escaped injury. The bridge limits are five tons gross and conditions indicate the vehicle was over weight. Salvage teams work to locate the submerged truck as divers are sought.

Purebred And Dairy Cattle Exempt From Export Permit
Canada loosens export controls for breeding purebred cattle and dairy cows effective June 30. Eightyearold Elliott Shot by Brother at Birthday Party
An eight year old girl, Anna Annette Elliott, was seriously injured when her ten year old brother, John Ross Elliott, accidentally discharged a 12 gauge shotgun found in the family barn. She was at a birthday party with neighbors when the accident occurred and was rushed to Bowmanville hospital.
