Youngster Rescued After Fall Into 35-Foot Well
A seven year old boy, son of Mr. Elliott of Pontypool, fell into a 35-foot well where dynamite had been discharged earlier. Bricklayer William Painting of Coventry, living at Port Britain, descended the shaft with a rope, revived the boy with artificial respiration, and awaited the doctors.

Retirement of G W Muir Dominion Animal Husbandman
George W. Muir retired on superannuation on July 3 after 86 years of service to Canadian agriculture. Born in St. Laurent Quebec, he graduated from McGill in 1914 and joined the Animal Husbandry Division, becoming Dominion Animal Husbandman in 1933. He directed animal husbandry research at Ottawa’s Experimental Farm and at branch stations nationwide.

Clarke Township Sets 1950 Tax Rate and Road Upkeep Plans
