Local Association Meets with Nine Members in Bowmanville
On Tuesday evening January 20 Local Association members gathered at District Commissioner Merle Gilbart's home for a guide meeting with nine attendees. Reports covered travelling baskets raising about 38 dollars and troop enrollments for Brownies and Rangers. Plans were discussed for a Brownie Revel in the summer and a February 17 Thinking Day event with a Guides all Guides film.

On January 15 1959 Mrs Dorothy Watt convened the Evening Auxiliary of the Oréno United Church. Officers for 1959 were installed including President Dorothy Watt and Vice President Margaret Arnott. Old Time Costume Carnival Planned for Orono Rink
Orono hosts a Friday evening carnival at the rink on February 2 to raise funds for bleachers.
