Orono Hydro Commission Plans Debenture Payoff
The Orono Hydro Commission met Friday January 16 and ordered payments to Ontario Municipal Electric Association Bowmanville Public Utilities and Powerlite Services. The commission also approved paying off the 1942 debenture on March 1 and planned extending the payoff to the 1947 and 1948 debentures, leaving four debentures totaling just under $4,000 pending.

Warden Elected for United Counties in Cobourg Race
Reeve Roy Dodge of Cobourg won the warden seat for the United Counties of Northumberland and Durham in Cobourg on January 20 after a six or seven candidate field. Dodge led late rounds with 21 votes to 17 for Kelley and 2 for Calver, built on a long municipal career since 1934, and heads the Lakeshore baseball league at 45.
