The Evening Auxiliary met on Thursday December 16 with the C G L T girls and moms present. Mrs Hamm wife of Lieutenant Hamm spoke on keeping Christ in Christmas and praised Marilyn Bell for her Toronto City Hall delegation. The meeting closed with Christmas wishes and thanks to the speaker. Due to her early departure the routine was adjusted.

Lakefield Indians Defeat Orono Orphans In Rough Game
The Lakefield Indians overwhelmed the Orono Orphans 11 to 4 in a hard fought Friday game. Penalties dominated two periods with ten on Lakefield and the rest on the Orphans. Two Orono players were ejected for misconduct. the Orphans played shorthanded with seven men. Top scorers were Floyd, Dean Wasson and Bireki for Lakefield and Dean West for Orono.

Baptisms And Christmas Service At United Church
Christmas services at OQrone United Church featured six baptisms Sheila Marie Bairstow Richard Mervyn Bean William Ernest Gilbhank Heather Christine McGill Bally Jane Staples and Gregory Glenn Wiggins. A donated Maas Chimes set installed by Heintzman Company Toronto was dedicated. The evening program was highly musical with a choir under Mr and Mrs Workman. Santa visited the Sunday School concert and tree event with gifts for children.

Hammond Organ Gift To Kendal United Church
The Kendal United Church receives a two manual and pedal Hammond organ donated by the family of the late J. S. McLean. Installed last Saturday, it was used in Sunday services with organist Mrs. Jas. Swarbrick leading carols. A dedication ceremony tentatively set for Sunday January 30 at 2 30 pm.

Orono Council Considers Per Capita Grant Share and Repairs
Orono council met December 15 with Reeve McKay and other officials. They reviewed requests for damages to Mrs. Reid’s pasture and for a village share of the 1954 unconditional grant. They also considered placing two gas tanks near the township hall, and debated road and bridge improvements with plans to inspect and request written support. Boxing Day, December 27, 1954, was declared a public holiday.

Gay cheerful Christmas decorations lit the Town ship Hall in Orono for the annual high school dance. Paul Minicola's Orchestra kept the crowd moving while students served a lunch during intermission. Council actions included gas tank approval and audit scheduling. the 1954 session adjourned.
