Orono Village Well Tenders Opened by OWRC
Ontario Water Resources Commission opened tenders Thursday afternoon for a municipal well in Orono. Two bids were received, the low bid from F. Johnston of Ottawa at 9546 dollars, and International Water Supply at 12871 dollars. A further tender review follows before a formal recommendation and Ontario Municipal Board approval precede work on the well and distribution system. Reeve Walkey, Deputy Reeve Stone, Trustees Mercer and Forrester, and OWRC reps attended the opening.

Santa Arrives In Orono To Greet 250 Children
Santa arrived in Orono on Saturday aboard the fire engine and greeted 250 children from the Village and district. He visited the decorated fire hall offering each child a word of greeting and a large candy cane. The event was sponsored by the Orono Chamber of Commerce with help from the Orono firefighters.
