Sixth Game Ends In Draw Orono And Roses

Orono Intermediates and the Bowmanville Roses played a marathon game in Orono Tuesday evening, ending in a 2-2 tie after ten innings. Orono out hit Bowmanville 7 to 3, but left runners stranded, and Keith West pitched eight and one third innings for Orono with Mallett close behind.

Margaret Flintoff Feted Before Marriage in Oshawa

Mrs. John Connolly hosted prenuptial events for Margaret Flintoff ahead of her August 11 wedding at St. Gregory's Church Oshawa. Guests from Toronto North Oshawa and nearby towns attended showers and a rehearsal party at the Flintoffs 230 Highland Ave Oshawa.

Orono Intermediates Victors Over Bowmaanville In Seven

The Orono Intermediate Baseball Club defeated Bowmanville Roses 4 to 3 to win the best three out of five series that extended to seven games after a protest and a tie. Don Mallett pitched a full game for Orono, allowing five hits and seven strikeouts, while George Jones took the loss. Junior West delivered a pivotal eighth inning single, driving Mercer home for the deciding run at Orone Park before heading to the final against Port Hope in Port Hope tonight.

Sidewalks And Fire Protection Subjects Of Township Meeting

Clarke Council met August 5 with Reeve Jas T Brown and six members present. A Newtonville Women's Institute delegation urged a main street sidewalk, but no definite section was chosen. The Division Engineer may be asked for subsidy and a meeting with Council representatives. Arch ie McLaren sought proper deeding for Station Street. Boundary talks with Hope Council were noted. The municipal engineer disapproved the proposed paving plan due to road conditions.

Trustees Plan Ditching On East Side of Mill Street

Orono Police Trustees outlined fall work including Mill Street drainage on the east side to prevent surface water flow, ditching north of Station Street, and sidewalk protection near the fire tank. They also planned light upgrades and road widening to connect with the north south road by the Herom home.
