Durham County defeats Prince Edward and Victoria in tight bouts before beating Northumberland 7 to 6 and finish 7 to 3 against Victoria.

New Car Priority Rules Start August Wartime Board Change
The Wartime Prices and Trade Board will begin accepting new car priority applications in August with strict limits and an exception for extreme cases such as a doctor whose car was wrecked in an accident or fire. All applications filed before July 1 will be processed if eligible. Dealers cannot sell a new car without a priority certificate, a change from prior practice. Existing priority holders will have orders filled, but no new applications after July 31.

Lena May Fralick widow of Solomon F. Fralick formerly of Sceugog and Port Perry died at her sister Miss Mabel Davy’s home in Orono on Wednesday August 7 1946. She rests at Main Street Orono with private service Friday August 9 at 2 30 pm and interment in Orono Cemetery.

Health Unit Lays Charge For Unsanitary Conditions
In Brighton Ontario on July 24 1946 George Brown of Carrying Place was found guilty under the Public Health Act Schedule B for inadequate closets and toilet facilities. Sanitary Inspector J D Finlayson Campbellford and prosecutor A C H Field handled the case. He was fined ten dollars and costs with warning of further action if requirements were not met.

First Export Shipment Of Canadian Cattle By Air
The first air shipment of Canadian cattle left Malton Airport near Toronto on August 1 for Cuba and Puerto Rico. Eight purebred Holstein bulls, seven bought by the Cuban Minister of Agriculture and one by a private Puerto Rican breeder, arrived within twelve hours. The flight demonstrates a faster, safer method for Latin American livestock exports. Hays Limited of Calgary and Brampton pilot the trial with ex combat pilots leading by Terry Goodwin, a veteran of 350 flights.

Durham Potatoes Growers Tour Ontario Farms
A large group of Durham County potato growers led by E A Summers and R E Goodin toured farms across Wentworth Brant and Waterloo Counties in July. They visited fertilizer and pesticide firms in Toronto and Burlington plant visits in Hamilton Ancaster Brantford and Galt plus potato plots cattle and Ayrshire farm operations and a 100 acre late potato site at Anecaster. The tour provided educational insight into grower practices and methods and ended with a return to Durham.
