Committee Forms Subcommittees For August Street Fair

The Kumrite Inn hosts a Monday meeting to set up subcommittees for the August 10 street fair. R R Waddell elected Central Committee chairman with Neil Porter as secretary. An advertising group and parade organizers are named, urging citizen cooperation for a parade car draw and park improvements.

Trout Season Opens Early In Ontario This Year

The Trout season starts Saturday April 80th in Ontario as opening was moved up by one day because May 1 falls on a Sunday. Mild weather promises good fishing with many hoping for large catches. Anglers are urged to keep only seven inch trout and return undersized fish to conserve streams nationwide.

The Young People's Union met Monday evening in Park Street United Church with large attendance. Le Roy Brown led the meeting Archie Watson read scripture, George Bowen and Donald Hamm sang, Mrs Lynch on piano. President Bob Keane handled business Myrtle Tamblyn read minutes. Summer School delegates Lois Wood John Keane. substitutes Olive Brown Archie Watson. Society split into Red White Blue Groups. Blue Group had best attendance and will be entertained by Red and White Groups. Mr and Mrs Simith sang with Myrtle Smith. Mrs Osterhout spoke on a topic, then games to close.

Stallion Enrolment Fees Due April 30th

Ontario stallion owners are urged to pay the $2 enrolment certificate fee to L E O’Neill before May 1 at Parliament Buildings Toronto. After May 1 the fee rises to $4 per certificate. Last year 1506 stallions enrolled with various form certificates, and interim certificates were issued.

Thomas Westlick of Port Hope marked his 87th birthday. a former wagon maker, still walks daily though illness limits him to weekly walks.
