Lewis W. McConkey 55 longtime Oshawa Chamber secretary manager died at Scarborough Memorial Hospital on April 19 from a heart attack while returning from Orono to his home. He served 1950 1959 and was active in many local groups. He leaves wife Ann Robinson and brother Thomas W. McConkey. Memorial service April 23 at Armstrong Funeral Home. Interment Bradford Cemetery. He was born November 7 1906 in Stratford Ontario and resided in Oshawa district 12 years. He studied music at the Toronto Conservatory and was a member of St Andrew United Church and Orono United Church. He also belonged to Oshawa Golf Club and formerly the Rotary Club of Oshawa.

Trustees Appoint New Fire Chief At Orono Meeting
Orono Village Trustees appointed Ross Mercer as temporary fire chief for two months to decide on a permanent appointment.
