Ontario farmers form first co operative farm near Kingston
Seven Ontario farmers and their families launch Hemlock Park Co-Operative Farm five miles north of Kingston to cut costs and labor by pooling resources. The 1800 acre operation along the Rideau Canal is under provincial charter with Ghent as president and is a member of the Co-Operative Union of Ontario.

152 Year Old Lake Sturgeon Caught in Ontario
A lake sturgeon of 152 years was caught last July in Lake of the Woods Ontario. Biologists from the Ontario Department of Lands and Forests at Maple dated the age by microscopic analysis of a fin ray cross section. The fish measured 81 inches and weighed 215 pounds. Harold Johnson of Kenora caught it.
