Orono Receives Per Capita Grant Support From Township
Orono village will gain under a 1955 arrangement with Clarke Township as the council reduces village property taxes by 3.5 to 3.75 mills and adds a 50 cent per person per capita grant from the provincial fund. The overall village benefit is about 350 dollars more than in 1954, with $2350 total for 1955 including hospital allotment.

Elizabeth Frances Hamm Moffatt longtime Oshawa resident died at Oshawa General Hospital on Friday April 8 at age 90 after a brief illness. She was born in Cornwall England September 17 1864 married in Orono Ontario 1886 and was active in King Street United Church Women’s Association and Missionary Society. She leaves two daughters two sons five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. memorial service held April 11 at Armstrong Funeral Home. Interment Oshawa Union Cemetery.
