Reaboro Degree Team Captures Shield From Orono

Orono and Reaboro Orange Lodge meeting at Port Hope for a three day convention. Reaboro won the shield in the degree team contest after both sides performed in the Grand Lodge sessions. More than 800 delegates expected for the Port Hope gathering.

Truck Crashes Car in Main Street Spree

Insurance agent George Mason of Bowmanville reported a collision on Main street when a MOOT Goode Creamery truck backed around a corner into his car in front of the Kaum4Rite Inn. Mason’s car sustained smashed headlights and a twisted radiator. the truck remained undamaged.

W A Meeting of Park St United Church Women

The regular W A meeting at Park Street United Church on Tuesday April 12 was led by Mrs W M Strwtt with piano accompaniment and devotional by Miss M Davey. Reports were given on minutes and finances, flowers acknowledged, and bills approved before closing with hymns and benediction. A letter from H E P C noted plans to close the gas plant but allow a switch to electricity for consumers.

Reaboro Triumph in Lodge Shield Final Parade

Judges tally points and Reaboro defeats Orono 92 to 87 to win the shield. Captain Porter of Orono and Smith of Reaboro were honored on stage before Porter presented the shield to Smith. A victory march followed by a street parade led by the Pontypool Fife and Drum Band and dancing at the town hall.

Orono Park Committee Seeks Funds For Shelter Plan

The Orono Community Park Committee invites citizens to a Monday public meeting at the Armouries to discuss raising money for a park shelter project and to consider improvements to the park bowling green. Bowmanville W I Seeks Donation for Rest Room Fund

International Plowing Match Dates Are Set

The 26th annual International Plowing Match and Machinery Demonstration will run October 11, 12, 18 and 14 in Simcoe County at Minesing Flats between Minesing and Edenvale, 12 miles northwest of Barrie. J A Madrae leads the Ontario Plowmen’s Association with Frank Higginson and J T Simpson overseeing Simcoe County preparations. Over 8400 acres have been optioned and last year’s event near Fergus attracted over 100000 spectators and 65 machinery firms.
