Future of Big Game Hunting in Ontario
Research Biologist Dr. C. D. Fowle of the Ontario Department of Lands and Forests warned that Ontario faces rising demand for big game hunting. He noted deer licences topped 1,090,000 and moose licences exceeded 8,000 in autumn 1954, with about 11,000 from outside Ontario, mainly the U.S. He urged understanding wildlife factors and restraint to preserve recreational wildlife access for future Ontarians.

Four Have Close Call When Car Stops On Tracks
Mr and Mrs Angelo Nastoff and their two children narrowly escaped death when their car stopped on the CPR main line at Bowmanville during a drizzle driven by a spur line miscue. The vehicle crossed a spur, toppled a three foot embankment, shorted the automatic crossing signal and block system, and was pushed off the track with help from police and bystanders. No injuries were reported and police continued the investigation.
