The body of John L Bates of Verncada, missing since April 7, was recovered Sunday by Henry Himler and J. C. Crowe of Parkplace while fishing at Maine's Eddy. A jury returned a verdict of homicide. Bates was a respected citizen valued at $15,000 and had no recorded troubles.

A crippled man was found dead along the Southern Pacific tracks just north of Clackamas. J. H. Rhogdardell of Clackamook reported the discovery to Coroner Holian. The body was taken to the morgue. A single trace lay near the victim.

Narrow Escape From Death in Oregon City Car Incident
Rosco Morris of Oregon City was struck by a Canemah car while riding with J. A. Newman near Portland Railway Light and Power Company tracks. The horse shied throwing both men.
