James B Brown Lays Mantel Down Aged Citizen Laid to Rest

James B Brown, age about 59, dies after a life in Oregon and Logan. Born June 6 1844 in McDonough Co La Kinoia he later settled at Logan and served as postmaster since 1893. Surviving heirs include wife Elizabeth Meubbin and four children Mia W Minturn Wm and F Brown. Funeral by Elder Rich and Masonic ceremonial burial.

Fishway planned to stock Upper Willamette with salmon

The Upper Willamette and its tributaries will be stocked with chinook salmon via a new fishway around the falls in this city. Warden Van Dusen says a trench across a rocky island near the mill will allow salmon to bypass the falls. The project may cost about five thousand dollars though past attempts failed. Officials hope for a durable, clean design that preserves water quality for future generations.

Highwayman Intervenes in Rural Homeward Route

A Currinsville farmer reports an armed highwayman halted him last Saturday evening as he passed near his home. The robber demanded money, and Currin surrendered $15, with no clues to the attacker. Also note a Minnesotan’s relief after using Chamberlain's tablets for stomach trouble and a Baptist church theme for Sunday.
