Tragedy in Wilhelm Tell House as Henderson Kills Wife
A double murder and attempted homicide occur Saturday morning when Henderson shoots his wife Martha Ellen Maxwell and her father Joseph D. Maxwell in a third floor room of the Wilhelm Tell House at Main and Seventh. Henderson then shoots himself after killing both. Maxwell survives a glancing wound and reports $2700 in bank drafts sewn in his clothes. The deceased wife had filed for divorce earlier in Clackamas County and had lived in Kerby Oregon. Henderson pursued the property dispute amid prior separations and a San Francisco marriage in 1906.

In Portland a deadly act occurred at the Wilhelm Tell House after wife Mrs. Henderson met her husband on the streets. He left threats of bodily harm, and a 38 calibre revolver was found hidden.
