Old Soldiers Hold Reunion Amid Banquet and Dance

Veterans from county units gathered in Oregon City on Pension Day for a reception at Willamette hall. G A R and Woman's Relief Corps hosted with a banquet, wine prescriptions for traveling veterans, a Virginia reel and various fife and drum performances. A long list of attendees from numerous infantry and cavalry units was present, with addresses of welcome and closing remarks by post commander O L Clyde.

Court probes Oswego death letters in estate dispute

German petitioner Haeste of Portland seeks removal of Mrs Effie Robinson as administratrix of FL A Williamson estate after a body found near Oswego last fall is identified as Williamson. He claims the dead man is his brother and challenges letters authorizing Robinson’s administration citing Wisconsin relatives who say Williamson was unknown there.

Boundary Case Reopened Washington Granted Right to File Petition

The Supreme Court reopens the Boundary Case between Washington and Oregon over Sand Island near the Columbia River. Washington is allowed to file a petition for rehearing arguing the court erred in locating river channels. Forty days granted for briefs.

Defendant Jailed After Board Bill Fraud Arrest

Henri Lepp, a companion of AL phange Gaston and Leon, was arrested Saturday night on a complaint by Mrs. L. Guedon for defrauding her of board and lodging. Police found brass knuckles, prompting a concealed weapons charge. Guilty pleas were entered. fines set at 0 and 25 dollars, with a twenty two day jail term in Clackamas county.

Fountain Hoss Company Meeting Recalls Early Service

At the regular Fountain Hoss Company meeting held in their hall last Thursday night Peter Nehren, a former member, presented a framed exemption certificate from service in the early 1900s. He spoke about the department’s history and many members said to be famous. A banquet concluded the evening.

The Lamcat actors drew a large audience in Woodburn then spent a night at a hotel before catching an early train home Tuesday morning. Death of Pioneer Woman Porter Leaves Legacy Across Plains

Mrs Susan Gibson Porter known as Grandma Porter died at the Samson home in Main Street after heart failure at nearly 95. Born in Kentucky in 1814 she moved to Missouri, married Alfred Turner and with him and three children crossed the plains in 1860 to reach the Willamette Valley. Turner died at Green River Wyoming during the journey. she continued on to Salem and later married Stephen Porter. She left four daughters and sixteen grandchildren with many in the local community.

Saturday Club Discusses Church Property Improvements

A Saturday Club meeting at Mrs Lewellyn Adawe's home reviewed plans to paint both interior and exterior of the church property and enlarge the basement. They aim to create a kitchen for social events and a gymnasium for young men, with the meeting night moved to the first Monday of each month.
