Robbery near Canenneh targets Portland traveler

Anthony Farley, about 86, on a trip from Portland to Bronka Station, was robbed of money about a mile south of Canenneh Monday night. He sustained bruises and was taken to Oregon City. County officials search for the assailant as St Paul’s Church calls a meeting to discuss a new rector.

Old Pioneer Celebrates Belknap Birthday Century

Mrs Cathsring Belknap sole survivor of the Watts wagon train party born August 20 1820 celebrates a centenarian birthday at Walter Belknap's Spokane home. Born in Ohio she joined the Watts party at age 11 and crossed plains to Oregon in 1848 amid dangers and Indian threats. The Belknaps settled near Oregon City for thirty years before the journey split into segments toward the Oregon Border.

County Forest Fires Spread Amid Heavy Damage

Destructive fires roar across the county threatening timber tracts near Colling and Weyerhauser east of Molalla and bets near Rich's mill. Two hundred men are mobilized to protect the woods as barns homes and saw mills face ruin and families flee. At Oregon Agricultural College alumni meeting in Portland the group planned a permanent organization with M J Lavelle as temporary chairman and Jack Hanny as temporary secretary. A by laws and constitution committee was named Maud Mattley Charles Parker and T L Charman. Next meeting set for two weeks hence with a social event and possible invited Portland guests.

Forest fires threaten Clackamas county as rain delays worsen danger

The article warns that without rain within twenty four hours forests fires could devastate much of Clackamas county. Reports speak of foolhardy individuals starting fires and losing control.
