James Parks, born 1812 in Old Orange, now Alamance, moved to Hyliehere in 1877 and joined Eagle Lodge 171 A F and AM. He has served in the Blue Lodge, Arch Chapter, and is possibly the oldest Mason in the United States. Despite age, he remains active and attends his lodge whenever possible.
