County Board of Education adjourns with 1908 funding plan
County Board of Education adjourned last Thursday detailing the 1908 school budget and per child funding at 1.56 dollars. White and colored pupil counts, teacher pay averages, and proposed state assistance for a four month term are included. The board approved debts, land, and building funds totaling over seven thousand dollars and listed a care note for the late Sheriff Hughes estate.

Death of Henry N Brown Jr in this place
Henry N Brown Jr died at his home Tuesday morning January 14 1908 at 9 00 oclock in his 77th year after a period of decline. He is survived by his wife one daughter two brothers and three sisters. Funeral planned for Thursday after the arrival of his sons Clair Brown of Wilson NC and Claud Brown of Birmingham AL.
