The 41st Annual Pancake Breakfast hosted by Villa Park volunteer firefighters runs Sunday from 7 a.m. to noon at Station 23 5020 Santiago Canyon Road. About 20 volunteers join 12 career firefighters to flip pancakes grill sausages and cook eggs. Tickets are $3 at the door. Call (714) 532-1411.
Between 1,200 and 1,500 alumni from Orange High School returned to the Shaffer Street campus Saturday for the all class reunion, the first held there since moving from Hart Park to accommodate the large crowd. The event also coincides with the district's 50 years of unification.
Orange Unified School District and Fieldstone Communities have not reached a purchase agreement for 12 to 20 acres of a former sand and gravel mine intended for a middle school. Fieldstone values the land as residential, while the district seeks current zoning value. Fieldstone won council approval to build up to 177 homes on 109 acres, with conditions delaying permits for 18 months and possible property sales to the district.
Orange Public Library expands local history site with 1200 photographs and maps. County archivist Phil Brigandi and author Elisabeth Deffner contribute articles. Funded by a $49 000 Library Services and Technology Act grant. Interns from the Art Institute of California and San Jose State University aided digitization at Cal State Fullerton.
