Oranges Bird Lady to Fly the Coop

Longtime Orange resident Susan Doggett known as the citys bird lady is moving to Twentynine Palms after nearly four decades caring for injured birds in her home. Since her husband died in October 2014 she has faced financial strain but continues tending dozens of birds and will relocate with several education birds and four baby crows.

What To Do If You Find An Injured Bird

Susan Doggett lists steps from the Orange County Fish and Wildlife program for handling injured birds. She advises verifying injury, placing definitely injured birds in a ventilated box with a towel and contacting a care facility, and avoiding feeding or seeking nutrition advice online. If the bird seems healthy or very young, leave it be to avoid stressing the animal.

Colors of Our Community Arts Exposition Highlights Student Work

Orange Unified School District hosted the Exposition of the Arts at Chapman University themed The Colors of Our Community. Coordinated by Lisa Kress, the event featured over 200 art pieces, photographs, and sculptures by elementary to high school students with Villa Park High School jazz ensemble performing in the backdrop.
